Welcome to our clan. We are the biggest and best clan in Demigod, and arguably the only clan with any hope of survival. What is our goal? To get games going without the ridiculous wait times, meet lots of cool people, and last but not least, have lots of fun. If you want a clan based on skill, you won't find one in this game.

Q: Are you the clan leader?

No, absolutely not. GM worked as a democracy, and the same deal goes here - majority rules. I am just your Public Relations (PR) guy. I have noticed that having a solid PR guy does keep the clan intact, and I have made sure I am pretty much accessible and visible as often as I can. I am on msn, xfire, skype, facebook and vent. If you need to find me, you probably will find me and of course I'll allow you to find me. Just ask if you're interested.

Q: What is the recruitment process?

There is no recruitment process, we will accept anyone who wants to join. Just add the tag, hop onto vent, say Hi and I'll add you on here. If you want I can serenade your entrance to the clan with a song of your personal choice, but it must be Top 40.

Q: Are there any rules?

1. Be nice, be respectful of others. I understand trash talking is part of the game for some, but please don't extend it to something personal. It's just a game after all.

2. Unless there is an agreement among the players in the game, please play balanced games. I understand that completely balanced games are probably not possible at the moment, but try to make it as balanced as possible.

3. Have fun!

If there are anymore questions, feel free to ask away!

Here are the current members of OMG (in alphabetical order):

OMG_awuffleablehedgie (a.k.a. OMG_BlackHatHedgehog)

So I used to refer to him as waffles, because I always thought his name was supposed to relate to waffles. Apparently, I was wrong. He's wuffleable - which means huggable apparently. I'm not sure how a hedgehog is huggable, but I guess it is in his world. Hedgie is his nickname, and he's probably the coldest person in this clan, but once you get used to his cold exterior, he turns out to be a really nice guy. He just has these awkward mood swings, where he's super energetic around 10pm EST, and then after 12am, he tends to be super cynical, and then after 3am he turns on his seductive bedroom voice. If you feel offended by him, don't be, because he's just a hedgehog. If you have any questions about any statistical stuff in Demigod, Hedgie knows all. It's actually kinda scary.

OMG_Blackmage (a.k.a. OMG_synnworld)

OMG-CaptainTaco

Taco was an important addition to the clan because he provides the comic relief for everyone. Just look for his posts and you will instantly know what I mean. He likes to describe himself as a terrible DG player, but he only says that just so his opponents will let their guard down and then Taco can strike. I always knew he was a sneaky guy, right when I saw his Pedobear avatar. As you can tell from his name, he loves Tacos but I'm not sure how strong that love is. In fact, none of us really know if his love for Tacos is stronger than tacoguy's. That is a question up for further discussion.

OMG_Defenz

A player from Vancouver. That's all I really know so far but if you're Canadian then that automatically makes you cool.

OMG-dontforgetyourpeanuts

I have a feeling this guy is loaded.

OMG_Epiphenomenon

Epi is what we all call him, so I suppose that's his nickname. He's the brains of the group, Mr.PhD in computer science. I will be joining him in September (hopefully if I survive the summer) but until then he is above me academically. I shall be your colleague soon Epi! He is the voice of reason. He's very mature and civilized, so I'm not really sure why he's a gamer (haha juust kidding). He is currently my academic advisor, even though he never agreed to it. But who cares, I'm sure he'll agree cause he's a nice guy. If you need academic advice, I suggest you go to Epi.

OMG-howboutnoooo

We all call him Max, because that's his name. He is the dog of the family - and that is not to say that he plays an unimportant role. Dogs are a man's best friend and they are extremely friendly, just like Max. Sometimes when you listen to him you might think he's on LSD, but really he's naturally just like that. He sees the world in magical ways, and he opens up your mind to a whole new world. He's also extremely active - as in he's pretty hyper and is always energetic until around 11pm when he usually goes to bed. I initally made fun of Max for sleeping so early as a teenager, but once I realized how much energy he spends just talking I understand why he's exhausted by the end of the day. If you are feeling down, go talk to Max. He is the guy in the clan who will cheer you up.

OMG__IN1

OMG_Jackho

OMG_Jona

Jona is just Jona. He's the drama queen. Yes, believe it or not I am not the biggest drama queen, he is and he's damn proud of it. From just 3 minutes of talking to him, you'd realize that he likes to put himself on the pedestal, and he does. But even with all that attitude, he's a lot of fun to hang out with. Listening to him on vent always makes my day. He also never rage quits, and never actually gets angry - which is kind of surprising now that I think about it. He also has nice eyes that he cherishes, I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

OMG_Jongalt26

Nickname is Jon. One continuous question that has been floating around is this, "Who would win in a fight against Jon, KAL-EL and yeahneil?" That is an answer no one has been able to answer yet. Those 3 in my mind are the tough trios - but really, they're all actually probably the nicest people in the clan right from the get go. I'm not going to lie, I was scared to talk to them initially but after maybe.. 2 days? I got comfortable with them. Jon to me is a wonderful fatherly figure so he is definitely the father of the family.

OMG_KAL-EL

His name is pronounced just like the way it's spelled. If Jon is our father, KAL-EL is probably our grandfather, except he's not even that old. So why do I call him the grandfather? Because he has so many people that support him that you can't help but admit that there's something about KAL-EL that makes people like him. The answer becomes quite obvious when you engage in a conversation with him. He always keeps it real, and is genuinely friendly. I still have a hard time matching his friendliness with his tough voice but I'm getting there.

OMG_Mybones

A fellow gleek, and although there are some disagreements between us about who the best character in glee is (obviously Rachel, but he refuses to admit her greatness), as long as he is a fan of glee, I am a fan of him.

OMG_NinkiCZ

I'm just your average joe who's Asian. I'm quite boring so let's move on to someone more interesting.

OMG_Nomilarac

OMG_Obiwhan

I've actually always wanted to meet Obi (his nickname) after yeahneil was making fun of my voice and mentioned that he also makes fun of Obi's. When I actually got to meet him, he wasn't quite what I expected because contrary to what yeahneil thinks, he just had a normal voice. Obi is one of the few that makes me literally LOL. I sometimes do wonder if he's telling me the truth about his age though. You'd understand if you've known him long enough. He is the joker. No, not the joker from Batman, but an actual guy who makes jokes. However, his jokes are NSFW - Not Safe For Work, so be careful.

OMG_pacov

There really isn't much to say about pacov because for anyone that comes to these forums, you really can't miss his name. I've never gotten to know him on a personal level, but from my encounters with him he's quite a wonderful person. I consider him the father of Demigod, as do most people I'm sure because he plays such an active role in this community. I've always wanted to get to know you myself and I'm glad that the opportunity has arrived. I shall definitely update this introduction after we become familiar with each other. I also did not think you were the type to listen to Ke$ha. From your posts, I always thought you were more the old skool type - so there's definitely lots of things for me to learn.

OMG_Pa1nKi11er

This is irek, yo.

OMG_RedneckNinja

OMG_DD-shred_demon

If you don't know who shred_demon is then you are definitely missing out. He is actually the real Gentleman. He has a beautiful Scottish accent and loves to drink tea. He cannot live without his tea. He is also extremely skilled with his use of emoticons (the best in DG?) and we all have lots to learn from him. I've never heard him get angry, he's always smiling in my mind and he always puts a smile on my face. Therefore, if you are feeling down, talk to shreddy. He is the clan's sun (yes as in the big thing that shines the world), but you'll have to ignore his strong desire to wear a skirt and become a transformer.

OMG_Soccer-mom

I remember seeing the name Soccer-mom on Lagwars and thinking what kind of a person would want to be known as a soccer mom. Although his name is a bit weird, he actually is nothing like his name on vent. First, he's not a mom. Second, he's not even a parent. Third, I'm not even sure if he likes soccer. He's actually one of the younger guys on vent but surprisingly is one of the most mature guys on there too. I suppose it has to do with the fact that he studies physics (which I think is absolutely amazing because I suck at physics). If you want to delve into a discussion on quantum theory, talk to him.

OMG_SoSick

Another Canadian from Edmonton, which makes him cool. Quite a laid back sorta guy, who's apparently an excellent cook. He kind of reminds me of jaws8you (who seemed to have disappeared somewhere) but without the sighing and he also never gets mad. He is a great guy to play games with because he's a great listener, always calm and even takes responsibility for his mistakes - which is quite a rare sight in Demigod, and even in life. He has almost made drastic improvements over these weeks and I'm sure he'll be excellent in no time.

OMG_Splitshadow

Don't be fooled by his age. Kids his age should be listening to Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus, yet he chooses to listen to Proud Mary by CCR. He likes to blame me for not being on vent, when in fact I am always on and I do pm him from time to time yet he chooses to ignore my messages, probably from Maccilia's terrible influence. He says he can tell a lot about you from your voice, so you should ask him for a personality diagnosis if you're interested.

OMG_Teseer

Everytime I talk to Teseer on vent, he seems like a completely different person. If you look over his posts you can tell that most of the time he's under the influence of some sort of substance, which could explain why he's a different person each time. While he sounds like a tough dude, he's not aggressive at all and I don't think I've ever heard him get mad. He also has this disgusting passion for TB, it's kind of to the point where it's a bit obsessive in my opinion. If you have any questions about TB, ask this man. Provide him with TB replays and he'll be very pleased.

OMG_Zalera (a.k.a. OMG_Sol)

He's barely on so how am I supposed to know anything about him. All I know is that he pops up in the forums once in a while and he seems to be BFFs with Splitshadow.

OMG_Zelax_

OMG_Zex (a.k.a. Cowbuttzex)

I always thought cow was a weird guy because he's the only person who seems to get along with Peter, but when you talk to him he's actually quite normal. I think it's because he's very accepting of everyone, as you can tell from being our first ever member of the week. If you don't know who to talk to when you come onto vent, the first person I would suggest is cow, because he's very considerate and would do his best to include you in games. He's also very encouraging and I think he plays a vital role in merging the members of the clan together.

Q: What if I don't want to stick to playing with weaker players?

This was the concern a few people have addressed. We're not all Zen_God here who can play 1200 games over a span of 3 months and endure a string of losses. I commend him on his determination, but most people won't find Demigod to be worth going through all that trouble for. Also, Zen_God is German (well half) so it's in his genes to be strong and determined. But Zen_God is a rare case, and so I've come up with a solution to facilitate the weaker players.

Hedgie and I are currently writing up guides like Ke5trel had suggested in another thread because many of them are quite out-dated. By no means do I think my guides will be the best, but they will be a heck a lot better than many of the guides you'll find. Once you have a viable skill build and item order, you'll pretty much get a head start. After that, you'll just need to play a few games, get a few pointers here and there and you'll be good in no time. Demigod is a fairly straightforward game to play and if you play consistently with a group of people, you will be great in no time.

I am also hoping that we would gather enough players so that most games will consist of players on the same level. One version of the game that RAWRRRR likes is where one person sits at the citadel and just buys citadel upgrades. That seems like a good plan for those who want to get better at the game. The more experienced players can stand by the citadel and buy upgrades while helping the other players out and eventually everyone will be on the same playing field.

I'm glad you are addressing this early on and think it might require some additional discussion or action.  I think its extremely true that those of us that are more competitive (or that happen to be in a competitive mood anyway) really dislike losing games primarily due to having a weak player on the team.  I like the idea that you guys will be writing some updated guides and I can probably assist with that by sharing some of my builds/playstyles.  I wonder if we, instead of having an inner clan ranking, could have a generic ranking system that might help us balance our internal games (minor concern) and help in training (main purpose). I'd suggest the following basic system: new, mid, expert where new = new means that these players are generally not good in a fight or feed.  mid = decent players, but not quite understanding all of the nuisances of the game (expert flag control, portal control, combat, etc, when to buy what).  expert = they generally know about all there is to know about the game and often make good decisions.

Anyway, the goal of the system would be to quickly help and train folks to get them to the next level of play.  I'm not really looking for another tier1/tier2 listing of players - the goal here would be to quickly classify players, spend some time helping them advance, and then moving them to the next skill level - not wasting time debating who the best is, etc - that's not the point.

Here's how I'd quickly classify the current clan members just based on my personal experience.  No offense meant as you might be great, just I haven't played with you much. If any of you that I consider experts think someone should be bumped to expert level and wouldn't benefit from some additional training, just let me know.  Please remember that the main intent of this is simply to help players get to the next level of skill, not to belittle, etc. Just my 2 cents on how we might help people get better at dg that join OMG.

on May 18, 2010

Like Tes says, I leave to play Starcraft for a week and everything goes crazy, lol

In any case, thanks for putting me up there, Ninki.  It's gonna be at least a couple of weeks before I dip my toes back into Demigod, gonna see if SC2 hooks me meantime..If you need to take me off the list as a result I'm cool with that but otherwise, happy to clan it up..

Cheers

on May 18, 2010

I am sure aborn and I always think, that the lists they make are a bunch of bull *#(@ (I would say shreddy too, though I do not know his opinion).  Shred is way better then awfulbuny cowbuttzex (cow makes the most retarded ninja rook that always looses).

We should get a 3v3 going to see what's up.

The End.

Whatever.  It was decided by an American that doesn't even play in my timezone.  Would have been respectful if he included the qualification "I haven't played much with shreddy" like he did for a few others if he was being honest, but whatever.

If this threads definition of "mid" is almost  a player with almost 30000 minutes who beats top players on a weekly basis I can't say I'm that convinced as to what we are arguing about.

on May 18, 2010

Yeah - don't concern yourself too much with this list - its really just a skill level guess based on how often I played with you guys (read - not that often)... its not intending to rank you guys outside of trying to help anyone in the clan if they don't have a firm grasp several of the gameplay mechanics.  You guys might already know all of that stuff, but I simply don't know about it due to not playing with you often.  I don't object at all to a 3v3 matchup sometime soon, though, but please get that I'm not trying to slight any of you by the list above... its just a guess on my part.

edit- and just for you shreddy, I did say exactly this in the post you are referring to:

Here's how I'd quickly classify the current clan members just based on my personal experience. No offense meant as you might be great, just I haven't played with you much.

on May 18, 2010

Anyway, I call shinanigans on your list, that's all

Edit, actually it's not...ever since I changed my name it's coming up with a "shred_demon" message box tab coming up with nothing written in it.  Anyone help?

I had that happen a bit a few days ago... then it just stopped.  I don't believe I did anything to fix the problem either.  I do know that it is within SD's power to make that problem go away, though.  So, you can email support@stardock.com and tell them what you problem is.  Pretty sure they can fix it for you... or you can try deleting the game.prefs file ans seeing if that helps ya out.

Regarding writing guides - I'm writing 1 up for erebus now.

HEDGIE or anyone else that understands the statistical side of things in DG - I'd like to include some specifics in my erebus guide about healing as it occurs with monks/clerics/high priests/bishops... most importantly how the healing effects stack (1 monk + 1 monk + 1 cleric + blah).  I did a quick search, but didn't come up with anything (perhaps because I can't view the strategy forum at work)... anyone know if this info has been posted or would mind digging it up?  I can sift through the lua if needed.  Thanks!

on May 18, 2010

FYI, Hedgie and T beat Aborn & shreddy on both games in the tourney by a huge margin...so I believe the list is correct.

You honestly haven't watched the first game if you think that is the case

...

hopefully the last time I'm going to try to say this - I'm not trying to call anyone bad players, to cause any division, to slight anyone, to say bill is better than bob - I'm trying to see who we might be able to help by way of a little training.  I really don't want anyone to feel left out that wants to play with OMG.  So, I'm trying to help identify who we can coach a little to get them bumped to Expert level (expert is not equal to tier 1 - it just means that the players get the strategy, understand why you'd buy this cit upgrade instead of that, etcetcetc).  To that end, this is just a quick list based on my impression from when I played with folks.  I WILL be wrong about the skill level of some folks because I haven't had the luxury of playing with them on a regular basis.  I said as much.  We have guys in this clan that look very closely at the lua code and can tell you precisely why you want to stack monks and clerics, for instance... or point out the reason why you'd want to let an enemy half cap a flag only to take it back from them... or exactly how much gold/xp you get from holding a particular portal on a particular map... or why its bad to buy one of the tower upgrades against an oak spamming minions at your citadel... or explain the cost and benefits of double farming... or... etc.  Those are a few of the more advanced things I'm talking about... if you know all that stuff, then you don't require much training, if any, to get bumped to expert.  If you don't, and you want to learn, we can teach.

on May 18, 2010

I am not trying to discredit anyone here but just stating a fact.

I just checked the pantheon and went by the score so I apologize if you guys had the game close enough.  But to be considered above Thundercle and on the same league as hedige, you guys should've won both games, not lost both.  With your logic, I (along with 100's of others) should be on the upper tier.

I beat top players not only on a daily basis but more like hourly basis each day, but this doesn't prove me to be the expert player in this game.

If you don't mind me asking who have you beaten?  I only have 2 games with you and based on them you are mid.  Also I have plenty of games with aborn/inexorable and he should have his own encyclopedia write up under mid to be honest.  So based on you respecting aborn's skill I would lump you in with him.
